The native born peasantry support us out of knee jerk patriotism, barbarian mercenaries protect us because we can afford it, and there's bread and circuses on TV and the Internet to entertain us. All of this is divinely ordained, the profits in Armani suits tell us so. As for the smoke on the horizon and the sound of marching - nothing to see here, so move along.

Introduced July 15th, 2010, by Charles Rangle, H.R. 5741 will give the president the authority “To require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes.”

I Hate War

I most recently took some time off and traveled South and then East. I spent some of my days soaking up information at Monticello, Mt. Vernon studying my favorite Presidents. I received many lessons on my journey, including a lesson in suffering in respect to slavery, the evil that surrounded it....and war. I ended my journey in Washington D.C.

FDR once said "I have seen the agony". War: In today's society, we have become immune to the word. It's become a way of life for Americans. If a foreigner were to ask you to describe American history, the typical American would describe it in terms of what war we were in. But if you look to even our most "popular" president and to our most "popular" war - even he said "I hate war", "I have seen the agony".

Please put away your bed of apathy.
